Volunteer & Community Work
Tom has had a very active involvement with numerous community groups as well as political and church affairs for many years. These groups and positions have included the Kelowna Boys and Girls Club, Chairman of the School District Bursary Committee, Former Director of the Kelowna Regatta Association, founding Director of the Kelowna Boat People Refuge Committee, Chairman of the Subdivision Bylaw Committee, Co-chairman of the Employment Opportunities Task Force, Chairman and Director of the Mayor's Leadership Prayer Breakfast for many years, founding Director of the Kelowna Pregnancy Care Centre, founding Director of the Terminally Ill Children's Holiday Society, and the founder of the Share Depot (a warehouse for goods for the underprivileged), as well as many other volunteer associations. Tom is a founder and director of Freedom's Door, a recovery home for addicts where 40 men are sheltered and offered healing through an AA/NA program.
